Installation: from the Read Me!!! .txt file

You should block network connections while installing and setting up R.S.v3.4.5.0 as the program will automatically want to check for updates after installing the language packs & may want to check for updates in the future when you start the program. You will have the option of cancelling the update check. Of course you can always "unplug" during installation and set up. If you do try to update, they will render your software unusable and have your IP address. If you want updates or suffer from a guilty conscience, please feel free to buy their overpriced software.

In the final “set up” window make sure that the “Launch Rosetta Stone Version 3” box is unchecked, and then click the “Finish” tab. You will then need to “patch” the software, so it thinks that the installed program has been activated before you start the program for the first time.

Because many software companies today are working with some of the leading Anti Virus companies, to tag some of the so called “patches” “cracks” and “hacks” as Viruses or Trojan Horses, to try and cut down on software piracy, you will need to make sure that your antivirus software is turned off, completely so you don’t get a “false positive” on the patch. The “Rosetta Stone Version3” patch has been thoroughly scanned by the AVG, Avast, Avira, BitDefender and Kaspersky antivirus programs, and came up clean. I have however seen this patch tagged on a Windows Vista Machine running McAfee antivirus, as a Trojan Horse. That was unfortunately, a false positive. Go to the "Patch" folder and copy the "RosettaStoneVersion3" file. Next you will need to go to the Rosetta Stone installation folder, usually [C:Program FilesRosetta StoneRosetta Stone Version 3] and paste the patch into that folder, replacing the original “RosettaStoneVersion3” file, then you can start up the Rosetta Stone for the first time and start the set up and language pack installation process.

This torrent also includes "PowerISO 4.7" program for creating and mounting ISO images to virtual CD/DVD drives.

Also included are the installation files for the "Sygate Personal Firewall". The Sygate Firewall works only on Windows 32 bit machines from Windows 95 through Windows XP. The Sygate Co. and all their technology was sold to the Symantec Corporation in 2003, and they didn’t support it as a standalone product. They were only interested in the technology. It’s a reliable and easy to use firewall that gives you the ability to both block applications and internet address ranges, and has back tracing capabilities to find internet address ranges from within its traffic log viewer. If you have another firewall you prefer, great. The Windows 7 firewall is really good. To block the Rosetta Stone by net range, here is their net range and also PowerISO's net range.
